Statistics: Russia’s CPI at 0.1 in Aug 12–Mon, 5.4% since Jan 1
MOSCOW, Aug 20 (PRIME) -- Russia’s consumer price inflation (CPI) index gained 0.1% in the period between August 12 and Monday and rose 5.4% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a statement Wednesday.
In 2013, consumer prices rose 0.1% in August and 4.5% since January 1.
Poultry prices grew 0.9% in the week, beef prices increased 0.2%, and pork prices rose 0.5%, while prices for eggs dropped 1.5 %. Prices for fruit and vegetables fell 2.9% on average, while apple prices grew 0.2%.
Butter and cheese prices gained 0.2% each in the week. The prices for other dairy products – milk, curd and sour cream – remained flat.
Since the beginning of the year the largest growth was registered in the prices for bulb onion, sugar, pork, poultry, carrot and millet. Their prices grew 22.5%, 21.3%, 19.9%, 17.5%, 16.5% and 16.1% respectively.
Gasoline prices went up 0.4%, while diesel fuel prices increased 0.1%.
The Economic Development Ministry expects CPI to remain flat in August and September.
